THE METHODS OF SHAPING METAL

CLOSED DIE FORGING

Closed die forging, also known as impression die forging, is a process where the heated metal is placed into a die that contains a cavity in the shape of the desired part. The metal is then hammered or pressed until it fills the die cavity, taking on its shape. The die typically consists of two halves that come together to fully enclose the workpiece, ensuring that the metal is confined and precisely shaped.

UPSET DIE FORGING

Upset die forging is a forging process where the diameter of the workpiece is increased by compressing its length. In this process, the metal is held securely in place while a die compresses it. The material flows outward and increases in diameter. This technique is particularly useful for forming heads on fasteners like bolts, or for creating features such as flanges on shafts.

OPEN DIE FORGING

Open die forging, also known as free forging. It is a process where a heated metal workpiece is placed between flat or contoured dies that do not fully enclose the material. The metal is repeatedly struck or pressed, allowing it to flow and change shape freely under the force of the hammer or press. Forgings are used for critical components because it strengthens the material.

Machining

Our precision machining services are tailored for clients who demand accuracy, consistency, and high-quality results. From custom components to complex part modifications, we use advanced CNC and manual machining techniques to bring your designs to life. Whether it's prototyping or high-volume production, we ensure tight tolerances and flawless finishes every time.

BENSCH FORGE MACHIING

CNC Machining and Die Making at the Core of Bensch Forge’s Innovative Manufacturing Process
CNC LATHING MACHINES

CNC lathe machining is an essential part of our process that allows Bensch Forge to machine dies and products with precision. The workpiece rotates at predetermined calculated speeds that will be time efficient but still extent tool life. Our Lathe Operators are trained to make minor adjustments during operations to achieve the required part that conforms to customer requirements.

CNC MILLING MACHINE

CNC  milling machining can produce a wide range of parts and dies with various shapes, features, and surface contours. CNC Milling offers high precision and repeatability that is critical for producing parts that meet strict tolerances. Our Milling capabilities allows Bensch Forge to recondition forging dies thus extending die life and cost reductions on die replacement intervals

DIE MAKING MACHIN

All dies are manufactured inhouse. Nothing is outsourced. Our toolroom has the experience and capabilities to design any die that will meet customer requirements after forging. Final part machining can be done if so required. Die or product design is done using SolidWorks based on customer samples or drawings. IGES or STEP files are then programmed on Mastercam where we verify settings, do a simulation, check for collisions, and compare toolpath to workpiece.
